Works great as a DB-9 port extender when the serial port is recessed to far into the case to use with many serial devices. Also prevents wear on the built in port.

It was my mistake for ordering this part, but I wonder why this part even exists? If you have a female DB9 and you use this "gender changer" you still have a DB9 female only extended by a 1/2 inch. Same thing with a male DB9, using this item you still have a DB9 male after connecting. In short, this hardware does NOT change the gender of a DB9. A true gender changer will have the same sex on both ends. Either both sides are male to change a DB9 female to male, OR both sides female to change a DB9 male to female.
